About Robbins Guitar Company
Peter Robbins built his first guitar in 1974 at what is now the Roberto Venn School of Luthiery. While life’s path lead away from guitar building for a time, the love of woodworking remained. Peter obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music but the desire to build a better life for his family lead him back to school to earn a master’s degree in accounting. Peter become a CPA and made a career in public accounting.
After years of spare-time furniture building, in 2009 Peter turned back to building guitars and has not looked back. In 2018 the Robbins Guitar Company was formally founded.
The Robbins Guitar Company is a one-man shop. While some of the processes in building quality instruments are made simpler and more accurate with the larger power woodworking machinery in the RGC shop, most of the work is done by hand with traditional woodworking and specialized guitar building hand tools. This allows tremendous control over the art and sound of the instrument and makes every guitar and ukulele unique.
Tonewoods are aged and carefully matched for color and grain pattern, joints are all hand crafted, necks are shaped for playability, inlay and trim are tastefully fitted, and finishes are applied over time and hand rubbed to a beautiful and durable glow.
